Join Us in Cultivating Joy and Belonging for Displaced Communities Globally

Since 2016, Amna, formerly known as Refugee Trauma Initiative, has been dedicated to providing non-clinical mental health support to every child and family affected by violence and displacement. Our mission is to create community capacity for healing in communities devastated by grief and trauma. We envision a world where refugees can determine their future unbounded by the impacts of conflict and displacement.

For the past seven years, we have been working globally and in partnership with community organisations and international institutions to integrate trauma-sensitive psychosocial approaches and tools so that refugees can gain respite, share experiences, be listened to, and understood in safe, consistent spaces. As we embark on our next 5-year strategy, we are looking to expand our reach and deepen our impact.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Programmes to manage Amna’s programmes departments and expand our innovative mental health and psychosocial care programming.

This pivotal role aims to effectively scale Amna's programmes into new international contexts, whilst maintaining the quality of Amna’s therapeutic programmes.

The role holder will be an excellent, passionate leader with demonstrated track record of nurturing team culture and managing diverse teams to work cohesively.

The programmes team includes Amna’s Training department, Partnerships Department and Associate Training Team responsible for:

  • Amna Community Partnerships Programmes
  • Amna Systems of Care Programmes
  • Amna Wellbeing Programme
  • Amna Consultancies
  • Amna’s Global Healing Network

Alongside team management, the individual will lead on:

Situational Analysis and Context scoping, assessing countries for Amna to develop responses in, providing recommendations on strategic areas for Amna's humanitarian work.
Amna programme accreditation, spearheading a collaboration with a relevant academic institution to get Amna’s programmes accredited.

The successful candidate will embody Amna's values, driving ethical programme development while fostering a supportive and effective team environment. You will play a critical role as an intermediary between vision and implementation, ensuring alignment and coherence across all programme activities.

The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in therapeutic programme design, management, implementation, and evaluation, preferably within a humanitarian context. You will have a track record in developing and managing high-performing teams in multicultural environments. You will be a strategic thinker and effective communicator, and you will bring humility, empathy and strong interpersonal skills.

Willingness to travel internationally and work remotely is essential. Desirable qualifications include being a qualified clinician with experience working with refugees or vulnerable populations.

Amna wishes to encourage applications from experienced leaders drawn from a wide variety of backgrounds who can drive and inspire change for refugees and displaced people.
