The University is seeking to appoint a Director of Bachelor of Arts and Sciences programme, a new undergraduate degree launching in 2019. This new family of undergraduate degree programmes includes the Bachelor of Arts & Sciences (BASc), as well as five specialised interdisciplinary BASc programmes in Applied AI, FinTech, Design+, Global Health & Development, and Social Data Science. Each programme will admit between 20-30 students per year, and will have its own Director. The Bachelor of Arts & Sciences programme is offered jointly by three faculties at HKU: the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Science, and the Faculty of Social Sciences. This programme aims to nurture globally-minded young leaders able to leverage interdisciplinary knowledge and skills to address key challenges in our increasingly complex world. The new BASc Programme Director will oversee the BASc curriculum, programme operations, course delivery, quality assurance, internships and international experiences. S/he will head the Board of Studies in BASc, comprised of representatives from all three faculties, which will oversee the curriculum and review course quality. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of academic achievement in the Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, or Sciences, suitable for appointment at the level of Associate Professor or Professor. S/he will have a deep commitment to innovative, interdisciplinary teaching and learning and success in consensus-driven leadership across multiple academic units and disciplines.
