The University of Bristol is one of the leading institutions among the UK's Russell Group of universities and is recognised across the world for its research, education and academic excellence. One of the most popular and successful universities in the UK, it was ranked within the top 100 universities in the world in the QS World University Rankings 2019. The University is home to 18,000 undergraduate students, over 5,000 postgraduate students and almost 7,000 staff, with a total income of £608 million.

Bristol is looking to appoint a new Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education to join its Executive team. The Pro Vice-Chancellor will seek to shape Bristol’s teaching and learning activity such that it is oriented to the needs of a modern-day student body. With a continued focus on high-calibre, inspiring and challenging pedagogy, education at the University is supported by a highly engaged campus life, resulting in successful learning outcomes. The post-holder will work with academic and professional colleagues to develop an innovative approach to curricula, embracing digitisation and encouraging experimentation in and outside of the classroom. Alongside an inaugural Pro Vice-Chancellor for the Student Experience, the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education will be a visible senior champion for student affairs and the student experience more widely as this relates to educational quality within Bristol.

The new Pro Vice-Chancellor will bring a record of senior administration in a higher education context, a proven commitment to teaching and learning improvement, and an excellent insight to and awareness of the wider student experience context. The postholder will be a highly able and visionary leader; someone who is able to work effectively with and inspire the University Executive, the academic community and senior professional colleagues. Bristol is committed to diversity and inclusion at all levels and in all forms. The University wishes to encourage
applications that will continue to strengthen the diversity in its leadership team.

The deadline for applications is 11.59pm GMT Sunday 25th November 2018.
