Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) is one of the UK's leading research-focused higher education institutions. One of the three largest of the Institutions of the University of London, QMUL’s staff deliver world-class degree programmes and research across a wide range of subjects in the humanities, social sciences and law; in medicine and dentistry; and in science and engineering. QMUL is a member of the Russell Group of leading UK Universities. Having made in excess of £250 million investment in facilities over the past 15 years, QMUL is unique among London’s universities in being able to offer an integrated residential campus, with accommodation for 2000 students in our award winning student village on our Mile End campus.

The School of Business and Management (SBM) is the largest School in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Queen Mary and is comprised of over 100 faculty, with 1200 students at Undergraduate Level and 600 at Postgraduate Level. It has a clear mission and character, and is committed to continuing to deliver its vision to promote social justice, sustainability and good governance. This distinctiveness has helped drive a positive trajectory in the quality and volume of students, research output and external engagement. The School is at an exciting stage – exemplified by the construction of its brand new building in the heart of the campus in east London, one of the most internationally and socially diverse localities in the world.

Following the successful tenure of Professor Bowen, who has moved to the position of Pro-Vice Chancellor for Social Sciences at University of East Anglia, QMUL are seeking an experienced and visionary leader to guide the School, embrace and articulate its unique vision and oversee its continued path to excellence in teaching and research, build relationships both globally and locally and engage widely with those in the private, public and third sectors to create and translate social science knowledge in service of our key values.

The new Dean will be accountable for the academic and financial performance of the School and lead in the establishment and implementation of the School's strategy and its contribution to meeting the Strategic Aims of the Faculty and of QMUL. They will have an internationally recognised academic profile, proven academic leadership and management ability, with a collegiate and inclusive approach and clear evidence of alignment with the mission and vision of the School and the University. Applications should consist of your full academic CV, together with a brief covering letter outlining how you meet the selection criteria.
