The University is seeking to appoint a Director of the Careers Service. The Careers Service provides a comprehensive, impartial and personal career guidance and placement service to current and former students of the University, and to postdoctoral researchers. The Service is consistently ranked amongst the top in Western Europe and was specifically commended in the statement of findings from the 2017 Teaching Excellence Framework. Working closely with the Schools, Faculties, Departments, and Colleges of the University, the successful candidate will play a key role in informing the University’s strategy for education and supporting the collegiate University on matters relating to employment and employability.
The incoming Director will oversee a move to a new integrated facility for student services as well as a refocusing of the Careers Service’s offer. The Director is responsible for the overall performance of the Service, including the budget and financial management, the management and development of all staff in the Service, and the delivery of a highly relevant and quality service to students.
Applications are sought from individuals who have a demonstrable track record of leading a high performing team, excellent interpersonal skills and proven experience in delivering a high quality professional service. Candidates will have experience in change management, and a familiarity with higher education is preferred.
