The department of Arts, Communication and Education, (KKL) is in the process of strengthening its visual arts competence by recruiting a university lecturer/associate professor within the specialization of Film design. KKL, has about 200 employees, 3000 students and the idea in KKL's business is based on the meeting and interaction between the artistic and scientific perspective of knowledge and learning. The department is responsible for education in film design, digital design, teacher training, music, theater and dance, among other things. Research and artistic development work is an important part of the business, and at the department there is a large number of professors and lecturers working with research and education. The department comprise nine research subjects and consists of three departments with activities in three campus, Luleå, Skellefteå and Piteå. This position is located in Skellefteå.

Visual Design as a subject matter is based on artistic methods and processes for color, form and spatial design. The artistic and scientific starting points are used in three-dimensional and spatial visual formatting for fiction's image-making from an aesthetic, communicative, commercial and technical perspective.
The formulation in terms of environments, space and artifacts is based on the camera's image and may be of both physical and digital nature with the purpose of communicating with and touching the recipients and users.
The design challenge lies in the artistic expressions possibilities combined with knowledge of the different media technologies and conditions.
Film design is based on the physical space and its artifacts in interaction with digital methods. It is the combination of theory and practice regarding methods and techniques in visual design that builds the knowledge within the subject matter.
Within the visual art field we work in a unique artistic and technical environment that offers opportunities for development of contemporary visual media production.

The position will mainly consist of teaching in our program courses including development and implementation of courses in Visual Design.
The main focus of the teaching responsibilities will be on film design based on established artistic processes as well as established models and methods. This could but will not be restricted to teaching subject matters such as moving image production, spatial design (set design, prop making, design lighting concept) as well as taking an artistic leadership. You will also act as a supervisor and artistic mentor for the students as well as production and project managers in various design projects.
The employment involves participation in the development of the institution's research and educational environment in the subject area where course and program development are a central part.
The position also includes an active participation and collaboration with the surrounding community and industry.
The position is a full-time employment, based on artistic skills within the subject matter.

Persons eligible to be employed as a senior lecturer in an artistic subject mattert demonstrate both artistic and educational skills. Equal weight is given to pedagogical skills
as to the artistic skills. In order to meet the requirements for being employed as a senior lecturer in artistic activities, the applicant shall:
• have obtained an artistic doctorate or otherwise obtained corresponding artistic skills
• have actively pursued artistic development work that has been publicly recognized and renowned
• have demonstrated pedagogical skills and have undergone university education equivalent to 7.5 credits or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge

Assessment criteria
The following criteria will be applied:
• documented artistic skill, such as quality, recognition, artistic education and experience as well as extent of the artistic production
• documented qualified educational skills, eg documented experience in education and educational development at university / college Level

Other assessment criteria;
• experience of imaginative productions for moving images, such as movies, television and new media.
• Proven skills in the field of relevant and modern production tools and methods including digital tools.
