The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) is embarking on an exciting new stage in its development.

 

A wide-ranging governance review has recently been completed and we are moving from a primarily representative governance structure to a fully independent skills-based Board. Under the leadership of our new Chief Executive and the Chief Inspector, we are ambitious to play a more prominent and visible role within the rapidly-changing independent education sector, nationally and internationally. Working as part of a diverse, high-calibre Board, our new Directors will help shape the development of ISI’s new strategy, seeking to increase impact, strengthen partnerships with stakeholders and extend our influence with government. 

 

Successful candidates will be individuals who are passionate about the importance of education, both to the children in our schools and to wider society. We are looking for individuals who can readily navigate the multi-faceted nature of the ISI and are excited about the opportunities available as part of a new Board. Our new Directors will feel a strong resonance with the ISI’s vision and values, and our commitment to diversity and inclusion at all levels. We wish to encourage applications that will ensure that we benefit from diversity in terms of background, experience and perspective. Candidates will have a range of skills and we would particularly welcome applications from individuals with:

 

Regulation/inspection and policy experience at a national level, including experience in safeguarding;
Strategic experience of education in the state and/or independent sectors, including internationally;
High-level communications and PR experience;
Experience and understanding of how digital technology can transform service delivery and of the risks associated with data management.
