Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation - Appointment of Deputy Director, Gender Integration

All Lives Have Equal Value. We are impatient optimists working to reduce inequity.

Guided by the belief that every life has equal value, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation works to help all people lead healthy, productive lives. In low and middle-income countries, it focuses on improving people’s health and giving them the chance to lift themselves out of hunger and extreme poverty. In the United States, it seeks to ensure that all people—especially those with the fewest resources—have access to the opportunities they need to succeed in school and life.

The Global Growth & Opportunity (GGO) division works to catalyze sustainable transformative change in the face of inequities and market failures, to realize the potential of untapped markets, and to see the economic and social benefits of including everyone.

In the countries where we work, women and girls face differential barriers to their health and development because of the ways that poverty and inequality are interconnected. Our strategy, approved in November 2017, is anchored around improving Women’s Economic Empowerment.

This new leadership role will oversee and ensure effective delivery of the Gender Integration initiative; bringing cutting-edge gender technical partnerships to advance results and amplify impact of the foundation’s goals. You will oversee the diffusion of gender knowledge and skills across the foundation through targeted learning initiatives and the ongoing development of the gender mainstreaming initiative.

As a collaborator and energizer, you will be a thought leader in gender equality and women’s empowerment, with grounded experience in gender mainstreaming within development institutions. You will also bring experience of leadership and influencing organizational change, as well as strategy design and implementation.

To apply or to download further information on the required qualifications, skills and experience for this exciting role, please visit quoting reference 3819. The deadline for applications is November 30th at 10 AM PST.

This role will be based in Seattle and the salary is competitive and commensurate with the seniority of the appointment.
