Queen Mary University of London is one of the UK's leading research universities, committed to improving social justice and achieving the previously unthinkable. We are a truly global university: our home is in London but we have sites in China, Malta and Paris, and our staff and students are from over 160 nationalities. A Russell Group university, and one of the most diverse higher education institutions in the world, our teaching and research is delivered with an international dimension and impact.

Our new Global Policy Institute will advance our ambition to enhance our global reputation and impact through strategic engagement with overseas policymakers. Acting as a hub for policy-facing initiatives across the disciplines it will support a strong translational research agenda, and enrich the student experience through dynamic opportunities for global interactivity and learning. Queen Mary researchers will connect with overseas policymakers to address global grand challenges through a programme of visiting fellowships, tailored executive education, strategic events and partnerships with relevant universities and organisations.

We seek an exceptional individual to be the inaugural Director of our Global Policy Institute. Reporting to the Vice Principal (International), Professor Colin Grant, and working closely with the Institute’s Advisory Council, senior academic and professional service colleagues, the Director will be responsible for developing the vision for the Institute and will oversee the creation of a programme of activities to ensure the greatest possible impact in policy engagement. We seek a leader who possesses exceptional advocacy and relationship building skills, with the ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders, and track record for turning ambitious ideas into tangible, measurable reality.

The Director will be a leader with the credibility, expertise, presence and projection to command the attention of academia, industry and government, with a profile commensurate with the responsibilities associated with a visible and influential position. The Director will be expected to travel overseas on a regular basis.

The deadline for applications is 11:59pm GMT on Wednesday 12th December 2018.
