Bedford Modern School (BMS) is an Independent co-educational Day School, governed by the Harpur Trust. We support more than 1,200 students, ranging in age from 7 to 18, whom alongside our staff form a friendly, happy and supportive School community. Sport has always been at the heart of life here, from the very early days of the School's history, and we continue to enjoy a reputation both locally and regionally for excellence in Sport. Today we very much foster an inclusive approach to participation also, encouraging all students to develop a love for exercise and good health.

Located on the outskirts of Bedford, a town recognised as one of the best places to live in the East of England by the Sunday Times and in commutable distance from central London, our site includes extensive and impressive facilities. We also have ambitious plans to improve the sports facilities still further, working with alumni and increasingly in partnership with local and regional sports clubs and organisations; as such, now is an exciting time to join us.

We wish to appoint a Director of Sport who will have overall responsibility for the full range of sport provision in the Senior School and Junior School and will lead a large team of physical education teachers, sports coaches and support staff. The Director of Sport will be responsible for the vision, strategic direction and management of sport, thereby maintaining the continuous development of the sporting culture at BMS.

Applicants will have experience at a senior level within a sports-related environment and be able to demonstrate the ability to implement change and, with outstanding commitment, progress the further development of our sports faculty. He or she will be committed to providing quality sporting opportunities and experiences for all students, developing participation and excellence, ensuring all students develop their physical literacy and a lifelong enthusiasm for sport.

The deadline for applications is midnight GMT on Monday 14th January 2019.
