Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences

The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) is one of Australia’s leading research-intensive universities, positioned amongst the top ten young universities in the world (QS Top 50 under 50 2018). Located in central Sydney, UTS is one of Asia-Pacific’s premier universities of technology with a distinctive model of learning, strong research performance and close engagement with industry and the professions.

UTS is seeking a new Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. At UTS the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences specialises in communication, education and international studies – these are underpinned by academic strength in the humanities, arts and social sciences.

The Dean is accountable for strategic and academic leadership and the overall management of the Faculty. Reporting to the Provost, the Dean is part of the UTS senior leadership team, making major contributions to strategic direction within and beyond the Faculty. The role therefore presents unique opportunities to drive further strategic development, not least by leveraging UTS’s commitment to the nexus between arts and social sciences, design, architecture, creative industries and STEM.

The appointee will be a dynamic academic leader and accomplished scholar with the ability to work across disciplinary boundaries. They will demonstrate a deep appreciation of the unique position of UTS’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences within a university of technology with strong links to industry, practice and the professions.

Closing date: Monday January 14th 2019
