Director, the Mindgardens Alliance
Formally launched in 2018, the Mindgardens Alliance is positioned as Australia’s first comprehensive brain disorders centre. It will be the solution to the growing health burden of psychiatric and neurological disorders, ageing, drugs and alcohol and related disorders through the provision of translational research; clinical services and eHealth; training and community support; and technological advances and discoveries. Prioritising the leading medical themes of depression, drugs and alcohol, behavioural change and the developing brain, dementia, healthy ageing and neurodegenerative disorders, Mindgardens will bring together some of the finest clinicians, the most innovative researchers and state of the art facilities to provide a ‘one stop shop’ for patients and referring clinicians. Located in Sydney (Randwick) the precinct will link the efforts of the Black Dog Institute, Neuroscience Research Australia (NeuRA), Prince of Wales Private Hospital, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District and UNSW.
The Mindgardens Alliance is seeking an inaugural Director, whose inspirational leadership will be key to ensure the success and further development of the Alliance. The Director will be an outstanding scientist and/or clinician who is a first-class advocate and leader. S/he will have a track record of enabling significant translational changes in the health and medical research sector leading to demonstrated advances in prevention, treatment and outcomes. Candidates must exhibit qualities needed to build on existing excellence and to shape one of the world’s premier Alliances recognised for its leadership in innovative neuroscience, mental health and addiction research and global translational impact leading to the prevention, treatment and cure of a broad range of neurological, mental health, thinking, addictive and related disorders.
