As a TEF-Gold rated institution, the University of Lincoln is ranked 22nd in the UK in the Guardian University Guide and 42nd in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide. As part of a Global Chairs campaign, and to invest further in research leadership where we know we can make a significant difference, the University now seeks to appoint a Global Chair in Water Resources as part of its Global Chairs Campaign.
Suitable candidates will possess significant academic standing and accomplishment in the field, as well as the vision, leadership, experience and enthusiasm to make a real impact in building and advancing research activity at the University in this area. The postholder will be expected to build on our areas of strength in agri-technology, in the Lincoln Institute for Agri-Food Technology and in our international Centre for Water and Planetary Health in the Schools of Life Sciences and Geography.
We understand that research is at the heart of what it means to be a university. We are proud to be home to world-class researchers who are making significant contributions to their subject areas. This was reflected in the latest Research Excellence Framework, where more than half of the University’s research was rated as world-leading or internationally excellent.
We are a fast-growing university, where staff and students work collaboratively on pioneering research that makes a tangible difference to people’s lives. Our researchers are tackling some of the world’s most challenging problems, from the fight against drug-resistant bacteria to mitigating the impact of climate change.
The Lincoln Institute for Agri-Food Technology (LIAT) aims to support and enhance productivity, efficiency and sustainability in food and farming through research, education and technology. The Institute’s researchers are engaged in the development of technologies which add value or solve challenges across the food chain, ‘from farm to fork’, working with partners in industry and academia locally, nationally and internationally. Collectively, their aim is to deliver the world class research and higher-level skills the UK’s agri-food industries need now and in the future.
The Lincoln Centre for Water and Planetary Health focuses on solving the most pressing global environmental and societal problems emerging from the world’s largest rivers. These include climate change impacts on extreme floods and droughts, flood-related contamination from metal mining and processing, water-borne and vector-borne diseases affecting humans and animals, where riverine environments provide the principal habitat.
