Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education (YCCECE) is seeking its next President.

YCCECE is the first and only specialist Early Childhood Education (ECE) degree-awarding institution in Hong Kong, incorporated under the Post Secondary Colleges Ordinance (Cap. 320) in 2018. YCCECE is a member of Yew Chung Education Foundation (YCEF), an established non-profit organization with over 86 years of pioneering history in Early Childhood and international education.

YCCECE and its sister institutions are part of an extensive and growing network of kindergartens, schools, and college, providing quality education to approximately 10,000 students, spanning from infancy to tertiary, across more than 20 locations in Hong Kong, Mainland China and Silicon Valley in the US.

YCCECE also builds upon the strong foundations laid by its predecessor, the Yew Chung Community College (YCCC), which was the first private institution in Hong Kong to offer formal teacher training in ECE, with the launch of its highly successful 2-year Higher Diploma in ECE (HDECE) programme in 2014. In September 2018, YCCECE proudly launched its flagship programme, the 4-year Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Early Childhood Education (BEdECE).

Thanks to the support from private philanthropists in Hong Kong, YCCECE is now constructing Hong Kong’s first “Discovery Space” on its campus – a child-centred early learning hub for birth to age 8, which will also serve as an innovative platform for parent education and community engagement, teacher training and professional development, as well as academic and practitioner research.

YCCECE is deeply committed to nurturing a new generation of passionate and inspired ECE professionals, who will have an enduring impact on the lives of numerous young children and their families, and truly change the world.  Our boutique-sized College values and promotes interactive learning, small-class teaching and hands-on experiences. Being an English-speaking College with an international faculty, we also attract non-Chinese-speaking students, and take pride in our staff and student diversity.

The Role

As the leader of a young, non-profit and self-financed institution poised to grow and develop further in the coming years, the next President of YCCECE should have an outstanding reputation for executive leadership, a strong understanding of the Hong Kong Higher Education sector, and

  • possess the necessary intellectual qualities inclusive of a strong aspiration and commitment to leading the College in its pursuit of academic and professional excellence in Early Childhood Education (ECE) as an extensive, multi-disciplinary field of science and social science;
  • be innovative and have a strong vision of the College’s role, commitment and future developments in Higher Education, as well as a strong vision of the College’s role, commitment and strategic development in not only in Hong Kong, but also in Mainland China, the Asia-Pacific region and internationally;
  • be able to lead a cross-cultural, closely knit academic and ECE practitioner community and demonstrate ability to build a united team, resolve conflicts, manage change, and possess a proven track record of resource development and fund-raising;
  • be able  to passionately engage students, staff and other relevant stakeholders in promoting the vision and mission of the College, and be able to project the College’s image and enhance its reputation both locally and regionally; and
  • be able to strategically leverage upon and strengthen inherent synergies between YCCECE and its sponsoring body as well as its network of sister institutions, and thus further building the unique “brand” and market positioning of YCCECE.
