This is an opportunity to serve as the first Executive Director of The Hong Kong Jockey Club University of Chicago Academic Complex | The University of Chicago Francis and Rose Yuen Campus in Hong Kong.

The University of Chicago’s new campus in Hong Kong officially opened in November 2018, located in a stunning heritage complex on Victoria Road, Mount Davis. The campus is a hub for ambitious research, education and collaboration in Hong Kong, China and Asia, building upon the University of Chicago’s rich history of scholarship in the region.

The Executive Director will have administrative oversight for activities of the Hong Kong campus. He or she will be the primary liaison to the University of Chicago in administrative matters related to campus operations and will work collaboratively with university partners who oversee degree and non-degree program offerings through the University of Chicago and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. The Executive Director will also serve as the external face of the University of Chicago in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area. Beyond Hong Kong, the Executive Director may eventually oversee the University of Chicago’s campuses and centers across Asia.

The Executive Director will be a senior executive with:

  • a strong sense of the Higher Education sector in Hong Kong, and how to make a meaningful impact within this sector;
  • excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to use tact and diplomacy to effectively handle a broad range of high level and sensitive situations and people;
  • a track record of success in strategic planning, administrative and financial management, and external relations;
  • proven management and leadership skills, with the ability to organize teams, make decisions, and identify and resolve problems independently;
  • a willingness to take a ‘hands-on’ approach within a small to medium-sized organization and;
  • strong written and spoken capabilities in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
