We invest in women’s power to change the status quo

Urgent Action Fund-Africa (UAF-Africa) is a consciously feminist and women’s human rights pan-African fund. UAF-Africa operates as a virtual organisation with an imprint across five sub-regions in Africa.

Recognising the need to move resources rapidly on a continent where opportunities and threats arise and decline quickly, UAF-Africa uses a Rapid Response grant-making mechanism to support unanticipated, time sensitive, innovative and unique initiatives that promote women’s agency in democratic governance, economic and environmental justice, natural resources governance, conflict transformation and justice processes while protecting their personhood, integrity and rights.

As a result of our ongoing restructure, we are seeking an outstanding Programmes Director to lead the expansion of our grant-making and the regional advocacy programme portfolio. Reporting to the Executive Director and as a member of the management team, you will provide intellectual leadership, strategy development, planning and innovation across UAF-Africa.

You will be an exceptional, dynamic, self-driven, team player with a unique hybrid of activism and leadership qualities. Supported by a values-oriented team, you will bring experience at senior management level, knowledge of and commitment to feminist principles and values and women’s human rights issues, and a sophisticated ability to forge mutually reinforcing programming partnerships with relevant actors in order to stimulate action in the mobilisation of visibility and resources to advance women’s rights and gender equality.

To apply and download the appointment details, please visit https://candidates.perrettlaver.com/vacancies/ quoting reference 4019. The deadline for applications is 9am EAT on Monday 4th March 2019.

UAF-Africa is an equal opportunity employer that does not discriminate in its hiring practices. In order to build the strongest possible workforce, UAF-Africa actively seeks a diverse applicant pool.

The position will be based in the successful candidate’s African country of residence. This is a regional position that involves extensive national, regional and international travel. The salary will be commensurate with the seniority of the appointment.
