We believe that those in need have rights over people with wealth and power – regardless of race, political affiliation, gender or belief.
As an independent humanitarian and development organisation, Islamic Relief has been serving humanity for 35 years. With an active presence in over 50 countries across the globe, we strive to make the world a better and fairer place for the three billion people still living in poverty.
Since we received our first donation in 1984, we have helped millions of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people. Inspired by the Islamic faith and guided by our values, we believe that people with wealth have a duty to those less fortunate.
Our projects provide vulnerable people with access to vital services and we protect communities from disasters and deliver life-saving emergency aid. We provide lasting routes out of poverty and empower vulnerable people to transform their lives and their communities.
We are looking to appoint an inspiring new UK Director to build upon the success of the Islamic Relief UK team and UK operations. This influential role leads engagement with the UK public and government, including fundraising, media relations, programmes and management of key stakeholder relationships nationally. Reporting to the CEO, the UK Director will work in coordination with Islamic Relief Worldwide as a critical member of the Board of Directors. This role offers a unique challenge for a strategic individual with a genuine commitment to the world’s most vulnerable.
You will be a dynamic leader with a track record of strategic leadership, people management and driving a collaborative culture. You will bring notable experience of public engagement and advocacy, and an understanding of the fundraising context in the UK. Most importantly, you will possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to lead, inspire and motivate directly managed, cross organisational teams and external audiences.
If you are committed to serving the millions trapped in poverty and suffering, then we look forward to hearing from you. The deadline for applications is Tuesday 5th March 2019.
The role is based in London, UK and the salary is competitive depending on experience.
