Fettes College, one of the UK’s pre-eminent independent schools, and Bright Scholar, the largest operator of international and bilingual K-12 schools in China, seek an outstanding Head of Senior School to play a key role in establishing and leading Fettes College Guangzhou (FCGZ). Opening in the Zengcheng District of Guangzhou in September 2020, this exciting new venture will bring the Fettes ethos to the Guangzhou area, one of China’s largest and most dynamic cities. FCGZ will be a co-educational boarding and day school with capacity for 2,394 pupils aged 2-18.
The successful candidate will lead the Senior School which will accommodate up to 1,000 students aged 14 to 17. The curriculum will be based on the IGCSEs and MYP in Grades 9 and 10, with students in Grades 11 and 12 choosing between the IB Diploma and A Levels. This is an exciting opportunity to play a part in the creation of a new school and in the establishment of FCGZ at the forefront of international education in China.
Dynamic, ambitious and entrepreneurial, the Head of Senior School will bring a track record of successful senior or middle leadership experience, strong organisational management skills and a collaborative style. He or she will build the Senior School team as FCGZ grows and will inspire students, staff and parents alike in the pursuit of excellence. The Senior School will be predominantly full boarding and therefore an appreciation, ideally but not necessarily gained through experience, of leadership in a boarding school is important. A commitment to holistic education and a genuine resonance with the FCGZ aims and ethos is essential.
