As one of the UK’s pre-eminent co-educational boarding and day schools, Repton provides an exceptional, broad-based education for pupils aged 13 to 18. Repton blends heritage with the pursuit of excellence in a 21st century context, offering world-class facilities as well as high-quality teaching and pastoral care.

With the appointment of Mark Semmence as Headmaster (Chief Executive) from April 2019, the School is entering an ambitious new stage in its development. Repton and its preparatory school, Foremarke Hall, are moving towards becoming one ‘through school’ and the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) has an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in leading operational, financial and commercial strategy across both schools, which have a combined turnover of £22.5million, employ 480 staff and educate nearly 1,100 pupils.

Repton was one of the first British schools to establish overseas schools with the establishment of Repton School Dubai in 2007 and Foremarke School Dubai in 2013. The development of a community of international schools is key to Repton’s vision for the future. There are currently four international schools open, with contracts signed for a further four; thereafter it is anticipated two more schools will follow closely behind.

The successful candidate will combine experience of managing complex, multi-disciplinary and sizeable support functions with a track record of successfully delivering change through outstanding leadership and effective collaboration. Dynamic and forward-thinking, the COO will be a key member of a new executive, and will possess excellent relationship-building skills, a strong sense of team and the entrepreneurial and commercial instincts to ensure Repton and Foremarke continue to thrive. Previous independent school experience is not a pre-requisite and applications are encouraged from candidates with commercial, charitable, private-sector and public-sector backgrounds.

Repton School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure & Barring Service.
