Compton Verney, nine miles from Stratford-upon-Avon, is a stunning location where art and landscape meet.  Founded with the mission to make art accessible to all, boasting a nationally-accredited art gallery, and a park of 120 acres, Compton Verney has six permanent collections and runs a busy programme of high-quality exhibitions and events, attracting annual audiences of up to 100,000 visitors from the region and beyond.

Embedded in the local community from which it draws not only many visitors but also its outstanding staff and volunteers, Compton Verney is a model of curatorial expertise and academic authority. It has a global reputation both for forging partnerships with museums and universities across the UK (and beyond) and for interpreting art, architecture and landscape to the highest international standards.

It is in this exciting context that Compton Verney House Trust are seeking a Chair to lead their Governing Body. The Chair of Governors will be an enthusiastic and enabling leader with recent experience on charity boards or in business. They will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with governors, staff and external stakeholders.  A good local or national network of influencers and business connections will be helpful. Importantly, the chair will have a deep passion for the power of art and culture to enrich society, and a commitment to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion. The Chair will ensure that the executive and governors articulate a clear vision, which is sympathetic to the values of the organisation and help Compton Verney communicate and share its passion for art and landscape with diverse audiences.

The deadline for applications is midnight GMT on Monday 29th April.
