The impacts of climate change are no longer isolated to projections or far off places…
From forest fires in Southern Europe to rising sea levels in island nations across the South Pacific, climate change is impacting everyone. All aspects of our lives will be touched by a changing climate, with the most vulnerable bearing the brunt. At E3G, we believe the only way to tackle something with the scale and scope of climate change is by working together across sectors.
E3G is an independent climate change thing tank working to accelerate the global transition to a low carbon economy. We build the broad-based coalitions necessary to leverage change, priding ourselves on bringing independence to an extremely polarised discussion and holding policy makers to account on their promises. In 2018, for the third year running, E3G was ranked the fifth most globally influential environmental think tank. E3G operates around the world with offices in Berlin, Brussels, London and Washington. D.C.
We are looking for a Chief Operating Officer to lead operations across our entire organisation as it continues to evolve. The COO has a critical role within E3G, working closely in a senior management group with the Chief Executive, Deputy Chief Executive, and Chief Financial Officer, ensuring efficient operations across the E3G group and contributing to the wider strategic agenda. The COO will have overall responsibility for the effective and successful management of all E3G business and back-office operations, including finance, HR, fund-raising support, health & safety, IT and property. This is an especially exciting time for this role, in the context of our significant growth agenda currently.
The successful candidate will demonstrate confident and inspirational leadership skills, strong business acumen with multi-office/country experience, and the drive and nous necessary to allow E3G to further grow and develop. Importantly, our COO must have excellent people and communication skills, and an outstanding work ethic. In depth knowledge of a range of business functions and comfort with boardroom processes, combined with hands-on experience of fundraising, strategic planning and business development in a not-for-profit or service-provider environment will underpin success in the role. In our next COO, we are also seeking a solid commitment to E3G’s core mission and objectives.
If you have the skills needed to succeed in this demanding job, and the desire to make a difference to the world and future generations, we look forward to hearing from you.
The closing date for applications is 9am GMT on Tuesday 28th May 2019.
