The University of Notre Dame Australia is seeking a highly respected, qualified leader to become the next Director of the Nulungu Research Institute, which is located on its Broome Campus in Western Australia. Nulungu provides an Indigenous research and academic focus for the entire University, engaging and operating at local, regional, national and international levels. Nulungu focuses on culturally-appropriate collaborative research, outreach and training particularly across the Kimberley region, and is widely recognised as an institute that meets the multi-faceted research requirements of Indigenous people and their communities. Nulungu has built its reputation on a successful record of high quality work on complex issues, and encourages the pursuit of excellence in research through valuing community-based knowledges. Research expertise covers a wide range of disciplines with specific focus on three core research themes: Country (land, saltwater, freshwater, and desert); Wellbeing and Health; and Education.
This appointment represents an outstanding opportunity to set the strategic direction for Nulungu and to further develop the research priorities of the Institute. The Director will be strongly supportive of the Objectives of the University, with a distinguished research profile, significant success in competitive research grants and an outstanding publication record in fields related to the research priorities of Nulungu. Candidates will demonstrate leadership experience in a research context or a similar environment, and will bring exceptional relationship building skills, including an understanding of the importance of community and expertise in engaging across cultures and disciplines.
