We define success as the ability to help people survive, recover and gain control of their lives.

The International Rescue Committee helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover and regain control of their future. The IRC is committed to a culture of bold leadership, innovation in all aspects of our work, creative partnerships and, most crucially, accountability to those we serve who are the world’s most vulnerable in the most crisis affected places around the world. Our Vision is to lead the humanitarian field by implementing high-impact, cost effective programmes for people affected by crisis, and by using our experience to shape policy and push for change.

The UK office remains IRC’s largest in the Europe network and hosts regional and global positions with approximately 120 staff. It is recognised as a hub for technical excellence in women’s protection and empowerment, refugee livelihoods (notably through pioneering collaboration between the IRC, governments and business), and working with and advocating to European governments.

We are seeking an Executive Director of IRC-UK, an inspiring individual to lead and build on the success of the IRC-UK team to significantly increase the IRC’s profile and grow and diversify the funding base. This represents an exciting opportunity to join an organisation with dynamic leadership and significant growth potential. The IRC wishes to encourage applications from senior leaders from a variety of backgrounds who are ambitious, capable of strategic thinking and execution, with extensive international experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate significant experience in leading and managing complex organisations, strong fundraising skills, and a track record of advocacy and influencing.  An ability to build strong relationships across a complex stakeholder map and excellent diplomatic and negotiation skills are essential, alongside a clear passion and commitment to the mission and values of the IRC.
