Aston University has developed a bold and UK-leading strategy, putting beneficiaries at the heart of all our operations. We define our beneficiaries as those who the University exists to serve; students, external organisations, and our region and society. As an institution our mission is clear: to be the UK’s leading university for students aspiring to succeed in business and the professions, where original research, enterprise and inspiring teaching deliver local and global impact.
Everything we do at Aston is focused around impacting upon our city, our region and our society. We believe that people create change, and we want to educate and inspire the generations that will change the world around us.
We are now looking to appoint, for the first time, a Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) to shape our learning and teaching activity such that it is oriented to the needs of modern-day students. Working alongside the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Students) and reporting to the Provost, the PVC (Education) will be an integral link in ensuring that students reap the rewards of an academically challenging and industry engaged education and that staff can maximise their provision of this. The PVC (Education) will provide strategic direction and leadership to Aston University as it continues to pursue its goal of excellence in education. Key to this goal is delivering an integrated, high quality, innovative, academic learning experience.
The PVC (Education) will bring a record of senior administration in a higher education context, a proven commitment to learning and teaching improvement - including digital and blended learning options - and an excellent insight to, and awareness of, the wider student experience context. The postholder will be a highly able and visionary leader; someone who is able to work effectively with and inspire Aston’s Executive, the academic community and senior professional colleagues. We are committed to diversity and inclusion at all levels and in all forms and wishes to encourage applications that will continue to strengthen the diversity in its leadership team.
