The WA Handley Professorship of Psychiatry is one of the most prestigious clinical academic positions in the UK.  The position provides an unparalleled opportunity to develop and sustain a large scale research programme, supported by the world-leading clinical research infrastructure in Oxford.

The appointee will join a thriving Department which excelled in the REF 2014 and which is committed to undertake research which impacts on clinical practice, and a College which offers a distinctive, friendly and supportive atmosphere. The post provides major leadership opportunities both within the University and the NHS-University partnership, and thereby offers a unique opportunity to influence research strategy and the future of mental health care in one of the world’s leading clinical academic campuses.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding, internationally-recognised senior investigator with a proven record of success in the field of psychiatric and cognitive disorders. They will play a leading role the further development of research in mental and cognitive health in Oxford, to ensure that the University continues at the forefront of global research. The appointee will also make fundamental contributions to the expansion of related scientific and clinical research infrastructure in Oxford.
