The Directorate of External Relations at York is undergoing an exciting restructure, in which three strategic roles have been developed to support the Director of External Relations: the Director of Recruitment, Marketing, Admissions and Outreach; the Director of International Recruitment, Partnerships and Mobility, and the Director of Communications.

The new Director of Communications is an integral part of this exciting restructure. This role will help create and oversee a new Communications Strategy that supports the advancement of York’s reputation as a world-leader in teaching, research, student experience and employability. The position will play a pivotal role in determining and managing an integrated communications strategy to represent the University’s brand identity and voice across all media platforms to engage and influence key stakeholders and support the University’s key strategic objectives and enhance the University’s reputation as a global leader in teaching and research.

The successful candidate will have experience in brand development, strategic and digital communications, cultural change, public engagement, internal, external and crisis communications. The ability to work collaboratively and lead across functions within York to support the development and implementation of strategic communication requirements is essential.
