The Surrey Space Centre (SSC) is a world leading Centre of Excellence in Space Engineering. The Centre was created in the late seventies to advance the development of cost-effective space technologies and soon established its world leadership in microsatellites missions. Through the years, its core strategy has been to underpin the technical development of the space industry through its advanced research programmes. Unique in UK academia SSC has a multidisciplinary engineering competence that gives it a full end-to-end capability to develop and execute space missions, from concept study to spacecraft design & MAIT, to mission operations and exploitation of space data to support engineering research and education.

The Surrey Space Centre is now looking to hire a full Professor to lead the Centre as Director. This post will be a major contributor to the success of the University’s high ambitions in Space by leading and developing our research and innovation strategy within the SSC. This will include growing the Department and building synergies with our other areas of word class research, such as; Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Autonomous Vehicles, Cyber Security and 5G.

As the Director of the Surrey Space Centre, the candidate will provide leadership and drive research strategy within the Department, Faculty and University. The successful candidate will be a strategic and ambitious research leader who has a keen interest in the growth of the SCC, including the recruitment and development of Early Career and Postgraduate Researchers.
