We pride ourselves on being a modern, forward-thinking institution rooted in our Catholic identity and ethos; we value inclusivity and are home to over 6,000 students and 600 staff from all faiths and none, and from a wide range of socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.
The University has risen through the rankings over the past five years, most recently reaching 77th place in The Times and The Guardian league tables. Our Institute of Education was again awarded ‘Outstanding’ by OFSTED for its Initial Teacher Education provision. We achieved Silver in the Teaching Excellence Framework and are aiming for Gold by 2025. St Mary’s is looking to strengthen and broaden its research impact and is in the final stages of completing its application for Research Degree Awarding Powers.
