Appointment of Head of Department, Earth and Environmental Sciences
Established in 1964, Macquarie University began as a bold experiment in higher education. Built to break from traditions: to be distinctive, progressive, and to be transformational. Recognised internationally, Macquarie University is consistently ranked in the top two per cent of universities in the world and within the top 10 in Australia (ARWU). We're the university for the audacious and the brave, those not afraid to tackle the big issues. In a world more dependent on science and engineering than ever before, we stand at the forefront of change and innovation.
The Faculty of Science and Engineering is a young and dynamic faculty driven by the spirit of discovery. Here we nurture the next generation of science and technology innovators. Our research and teaching addresses the big issues faced by society in Australia and globally – the changing environment, future materials and fuels, biotechnology, cyber security, to name a few. The pairing of engineering and science in a single faculty means many of our research discoveries in science see direct technological applications in engineering.
The Faculty is now seeking to appoint a new Head of the recently reconfigured Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. We are looking for an experienced visionary leader who can unite, inspire and create a culture of high performance. You will bring with you a wealth of successful leadership and management experience within academic administration, along with the ability to engage externally. You will combine proven academic and research standing in your discipline with the ability to be a lead enabler of multi-disciplinary collaborations, and with expertise in curriculum design and innovation and in the delivery and assessment of quality teaching programs.
