Citizens Advice - Appointment of Trustee (4327)

We’re looking for an ambitious and forward-thinking Trustee to help us deliver on our dual mission in the future; giving the advice people need to solve the problems they face and advocating to address their underlying causes.

Every year millions of people come to us for advice and help with solving their problems. We’re run by a mixture of over 800 national and 6,300 local staff, 18,300 local volunteers and 3,000 Witness Service volunteers.

Together we deliver the Witness Service, Pension Wise, the Consumer Service, the Help to Claim service and debt advice funded by the Money and Pensions Service. We’re also the consumer champion for the energy market and the statutory consumer watchdog for the postal service.

Our network of over 270 local Citizens Advice charities means we have the insight and flexibility to adapt and respond to local needs. We’re an important part of communities with approximately 2,550 locations across England and Wales.

Candidates must be able to articulate an understanding of the role of a Trustee. They must also demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively with others as part of a team, make effective business decisions, see the wider picture, and think creatively. Independent and practical judgement, high ethical standards, and a willingness to challenge and be challenged are also essential. You should have a proven record of achievement in your own field – operating at a strategic level, confronting challenges and driving through initiatives.

We particularly welcome applications from individuals with a commercial background or those with experience of business development and driving corporate partnerships. We further welcome applications from those based outside London.

Citizens Advice is committed to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion principles, and we encourage candidates who can help us to ensure diverse representation on our Board.

If you have the personal qualities and enthusiasm to drive change across the whole Citizens Advice service and you embody our inventive, responsible and generous values, we would love to hear from you.

Please visit quoting reference 4327 to apply or obtain further information on the required qualifications, skills and experience for this exciting opportunity.

The deadline for applications is Monday 30th September 2019.

The post is unremunerated but very rewarding, and appropriate expenses are reimbursed.

Trustees are expected to commit between 10-12 days per year, including ad hoc activities and meeting preparation time.
