Clean Air Fund - Appointment of Strategic Communications Portfolio Manager, UK

Aiming to achieve clean air for all, accelerate decarbonisation and improve human health.

The Clean Air Fund is a new philanthropic foundation aimed at reducing air pollution, and in doing so improving people’s health and simultaneously mitigating climate change.

Launched at the UN Secretary General’s Climate Summit and with $50m raised to date, the Clean Air Fund makes grants to a variety of interventions to reduce air pollution – including monitoring the state of the air, developing policies for clean energy and transport, mobilising the public and supporting communications campaigns. It is well funded by a partnership of leading foundations with interests across health, climate, children and mobility, and brings these and other organisations together to share learnings and connect people, to ensure the best solutions are rapidly scaled up and replicated.

We are now seeking an exceptional individual to join a new and rapidly growing team as Strategic Communications Portfolio Manager, UK, at a critically exciting moment for the Fund and the field. This role offers a unique development opportunity for a high-potential individual to design and lead a multi-million-pound portfolio of projects to tackle air pollution in London and the UK. With a focus on campaigns and communications, the Strategic Communications Portfolio Manager, UK, will strategically develop and actively manage the portfolio. They will respond flexibly to deal with a rapidly changing political landscape and develop and maintain productive relationships with a variety of stakeholders, to help achieve the Fund’s ambitions.

The successful candidate will demonstrate both a strategic and operational approach, with a particular focus on proactive communications and campaigns. S/he will possess strong interpersonal skills, gained through working in a complex stakeholder environment, and a proven track record of influencing and coordinating partners and stakeholders at all levels across civil society and government. Knowledge of air quality, health or climate change is not essential but desirable. Most importantly, the successful candidate will be passionate about our work and aligned with our mission and values.

The role is based in London with regular global travel. The salary is competitive and commensurate with the experience required.
