Join us in our globally significant vision of saving and improving the lives of everyone who needs a stem cell transplant.
Every day, Anthony Nolan matches incredible individuals willing to donate their blood stem cells or bone marrow to people with blood cancer and blood disorders who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. We conduct pioneering research into stem cell matching and transplants, so we can make sure every person in need gets the best possible treatment. We’re proud of the impact our research has had on patients’ lives, but we know there’s still so much more to learn in order to deliver better outcomes. As part of our new organisational strategy, Together We Can, we aim to lead the discovery of the many factors that influence the success of a stem cell transplant, and to ensure that patients see the benefits of research sooner.
We’re looking for our next Clinical Research Director who, as part of Anthony Nolan’s Strategic Leadership Team, will lead our renowned Research Institute and our research strategy across the organisation, with the clear and unambiguous aim of saving and improving the lives of patients in need of a stem cell transplant. The post holder is responsible for the strategic direction of our clinical and translational research programme, and an ambitious programme of work to strengthen and transform how we deliver our research and broaden it in line with patient and clinician experience, transplant outcomes and the development of innovative new treatments. You will also play a key role in external engagement – building relationships and providing expert scientific and clinical advice to a variety of stakeholders along with the tools and practical support to translate research, inform our donor recruitment and typing strategies, secure research funding, and influence research policy. This is also a leading role on the international stage to promote the research strategy and programmes of Anthony Nolan.
With experience in the field of HSCT, a strong publication record and track record of delivering translational research in stem cell transplantation or an allied area, the successful candidate will combine proven collaborative and inspirational leadership and networking skills with a range of stakeholders – able to engage staff and external scientists, funders and the public alike. Knowledge of best practice in relevant research grant applications and a creative, entrepreneurial and patient-centred approach will be crucial to the success of our research and to your success and fulfilment in this role, along with a demonstrable commitment to the vision and aims of Anthony Nolan.
This is an opportunity to join an ambitious and dynamic blood cancer charity embarking on a new strategy to deliver long and lasting change for stem cell transplant patients. If you have the skills, experience and qualities we are looking for and you are inspired by what we can achieve, we’d love to hear from you.
