UNSW Sydney has embarked upon a global search for the next Dean of UNSW Engineering.

Engineering at UNSW is consistently ranked as the number one engineering faculty in Australia and one of the top in the world. UNSW Sydney has claimed Australia’s top spot for engineering and technology in the 2020 Times Higher Education (THE) World Rankings by Subject, gaining 12 positions to be placed 59th in the world. UNSW is now number one in Australia in engineering and technology across all major rankings – QS, AWRU, THE and also US News.
Our students are inspired by internationally renowned teachers who are also leading researchers. We offer over 20 undergraduate degrees with more than 100 degree combinations. UNSW Engineering is globally recognised for multidisciplinary research in biomedical engineering and health, civil and environmental engineering, enabling technology, energy and water. We’re responsible for innovations and discoveries that pave the way for a better future (e.g. energy-efficient solar cell material, the bionic eye project, the first working quantum bit based on a single atom in silicon). Our strong partnerships with industry and government provide students and researchers with local and international opportunities. Students gain valuable industry experience working with small startups to large corporations. Our most prominent partnerships include Accenture, Arcadis, Atlassian, Commonwealth Bank and the Australian Government Department of Defence.
This is an outstanding opportunity to lead a sizeable and already successful faculty to continue on its journey of student growth, research excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and external engagement/research impact. The successful candidate will have an exceptional track record of research, fundraising, teaching and academic leadership contribution. They will demonstrate a collaborative disposition and experience of driving further engagement across disciplines and academic units. They will also present with strong relationship-building qualities, such that will facilitate meaningful and impactful partnerships with external stakeholders, particularly in industry and government.
