Appointment of Director of External Affairs, Clean Air Fund
Aiming to achieve clean air for all, accelerate decarbonisation and improve human health.
The Clean Air Fund is a new philanthropic foundation aimed at reducing air pollution, and in doing so improving people’s health and simultaneously mitigating climate change.
Launched at the UN Secretary General’s Climate Summit and with $50m raised to date, the Clean Air Fund makes grants to a variety of interventions to reduce air pollution – including monitoring the state of the air, developing policies for clean energy and transport, mobilising the public and supporting communications campaigns. It is well-funded by a partnership of leading foundations with interests across health, climate, children and mobility, and brings these and other organisations together to share learnings and connect people, to ensure the best solutions are rapidly scaled up and replicated.
We are now seeking an exceptional individual to join a new and rapidly growing team as its Director of External Affairs, at a critically exciting moment for the Fund and the field. This role offers a unique opportunity for a high-potential individual to create and lead the global strategy for multi-million-dollar grantee public engagement campaigns. The Director of External Affairs will identify, build and maintain innovative partnerships to further the work of the Clean Air Fund globally, managing the entire cycle of fundraising from all sources, developing key events, and communications strategies to tell our story and that of our grantees.
The successful candidate will demonstrate both a strategic and operational approach, with regards to global stakeholder engagement, communications, fundraising and public engagement. S/he will bring notable experience of strategic senior leadership experience gained in similar environments, management of large-scale budgets, and a proven track record of communicating with, and influencing partners and stakeholders at all levels. Knowledge of air quality, health or climate change is not essential but desirable. Most importantly, the successful candidate will be passionate about our work and aligned with our mission and values.
