Appointment of Trustees, World Animal Protection

Join us in moving the world to protect animals.

We are World Animal Protection. We’ve moved the world to protect animals for more than 50 years. We work for a world where animals live free from cruelty and suffering; we influence decision makers to put animals on the global agenda; we help the world see how important animals are to all of us; and we inspire people to change animals’ lives for the better.

For many years we have been a catalyst – inspiring people, governments, communities and non-governmental organisations to protect animals across the world. We have made real advances in our work, but there is much more to do. Animal protection still needs to be universally acknowledged as a global priority that can change the world, and animals continue to face unprecedented threats. Whether it’s the billions of animals that suffer unspeakable cruelty in industrialised food production systems, or wild animals reduced to commodities for human exploitation. Animal suffering is not inevitable. If we help people understand how their actions affect animals and change their behaviour accordingly, the lives of billions of animals will be improved and a better world created for everyone.

We have a bold strategy to take us up to 2020 and are in the process of developing an even more ambitious strategy to take us beyond 2020. We are now seeking a number of Trustees to join our International Board from around the world and enter into an engaged and proactive relationship with the organisation, providing oversight and guidance for our future strategy and sustainability. The new Trustees will be individuals of exceptional calibre and will help us fight for change, bringing us closer to a world where animals live free from suffering.

Our International Board requires Trustees with highly attuned skills and extensive experience in strategic leadership in an international and multicultural setting. We are particularly looking for those with the following core skillsets: generalist animal welfare/sustainability/campaigning; multi-channel charitable fundraising; and financial management and governance. Trustees are expected to dedicate a minimum of 12 days a year to their Board responsibilities, with additional time spent on travel where relevant.

If you are a strategic leader with demonstrable experience and success in one or more of the skillset areas we are seeking, as well as a clear alignment with the vision, mission and principles of World Animal Protection, then we look forward to hearing from you. Please visit: quoting reference 4436 to apply or obtain further information on the required qualifications, skills and experience for this exciting opportunity. Please reference the core skillset(s) under which you wish to be considered in your covering letter: generalist animal welfare/sustainability/campaigning; multi-channel charitable fundraising or financial management and governance.

The closing date for applications is 9am GMT on Monday 16th December 2019.

The position of Trustee is voluntary but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
