Director, Perry World House

The University of Pennsylvania seeks the next Director of Perry World House (PWH).  The Director is responsible for the further success and growth of PWH and is a key member of the team helping lead Penn’s global engagement efforts and advancing academic and institutional goals, including inclusion, innovation, and impact, as expressed in the Penn Compact 2020.

Perry World House was founded in 2016 to bring the academic knowledge of the University of Pennsylvania to bear on some of the world’s most pressing global policy challenges, and to foster international policy engagement within and beyond the Penn community. As an autonomous center within Penn, it is able to work across all disciplines and schools to bring together unique constellations of faculty and leaders from around the world. In just a few years, it has become a center for scholarly inquiry, teaching, research, international exchange, policy engagement, and public outreach on pressing global issues.

Candidates will have achieved an international standing through contributions to policy and/or scholarship relating to the most pressing global issues. Able to bridge scholarship and practice, they will possess unquestioned intellectual credibility and have the capacity to earn the respect and commitment of faculty and leaders across Penn and the public and private sectors. As Director, they will have the operational experience necessary to lead a high performing center delivering excellent and relevant programs, education and research, as well as the desire and ability to further build PWH by bringing together the diverse Penn community of all disciplines.

Inquiries, nominations, and applications are invited. Candidates should provide a curriculum vitae and, optionally, a letter of application that addresses the responsibilities and requirements described herein as well as the names and contact information of five references.  References will not be contacted without prior knowledge and approval of candidates. This search will be fully confidential and no candidate names will be known beyond the committee that is carrying out the search.

The search will remain open until the position is filled. Interviews will be taking place early in the Spring 2020 semester, with the next Director taking post by July 2020.
