The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), London, is one of the world’s most influential cancer research organisations, with an outstanding record of achievement dating back more than 100 years. The Institute’s mission is to make the discoveries that defeat cancer, and their scientists and clinicians work every day to make real impact on cancer patients’ lives.

The ICR are now seeking to appoint a new Chief Operating Officer (COO). This is a strategic leadership and operational delivery role with both an internal and external focus. The COO will work closely with the Chief Executive and the Board to ensure that the ICR is a world-class and sustainable organization, and to deliver on the Institute’s ambitious plans to enhance and expand its work. Leading a team of highly skilled Corporate Directors, the COO is responsible for ensuring that all operations and administration of the ICR support its scientific endeavours.

The successful candidate will be an experienced leader with a successful track record in the development and delivery of strategic objectives and business plans at board level, as well as a strong track record of delivering high quality, cost-effective professional services within a research or technical environment. They will have proven operational experience, with the ability to balance long-term strategic planning and more immediate delivery, and to help foster a culture of effectiveness and agility across their teams and functions. The COO will have extensive experience of successfully working with and influencing a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and will establish and maintain strong working relationships across the Institute and with external partners.

The closing date for applications is Friday 17th January at midday (GMT). Final stage interviews will take place in late February 2020.
