Professor and Academic Lead in Public Health

Flinders University is a dynamic, progressive Australian institution with a reputation for excellence in research and teaching. The College of Medicine and Public Health aspires to be a global leader in education and to make a difference to the health of the communities we serve through the transformative power of research, education and healthcare.

The College is now seeking a Professor and Academic Lead for Public Health. The position will provide academic leadership in research, teaching and community engagement to advance the discipline and its reputation as a centre of excellence, nationally and internationally.

Reporting to the 2IC of the College, the Dean People and Resources, the Academic Lead will be responsible for supervising colleagues across the seven disciplines within Public Health; Point of Care, Addiction, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health, Health Economics, Biostatistics and Epidemiology, Public Health, Social Determinants of Health, and Injury Prevention. Working in close collaboration with the Director of the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute (FHMRI), the Academic Lead will foster opportunities for Public Health to contribute to impactful research through the Healthy Communities thematic area.

The successful candidate will bring demonstrated experience of inclusive leadership in Public Health, with the ability to create a positive people-supportive culture that fosters excellence in research, and teaching and learning. The appointee will have a personal track record of research in a Public Health field. Evidence of mentoring and supervising early to mid-career researchers is essential. Candidates should have the ability to foster and build opportunities for external engagement and strategic partnerships, including with industry, government and other external organisations.
