Mission Without Borders Canada (4513) | Appointment of National Country Director

Mission Without Borders is an international network of Christians who journey with the poor and marginalized, bringing practical and spiritual support with hope of a better future, enabling and encouraging people to lift themselves out of poverty, always sharing the hope that is found in Jesus Christ.  Our Vision is to see lives transformed, across generations, with hope for the future. Mission Without Borders International leads and co-ordinates the work of six countries in Eastern Europe where we carry out our project work, and 11 countries where we raise support, of which the Canada is one.  An international staff team supports this work in terms of community development, best practice, fundraising, communications, finance and IT.

Mission Without Borders is now seeking a strategic and visionary leader to grow our reputation and reach in Canada. This new role has come about as a result of a decision by the Canadian board and the International board of MWBI to further develop our operations in Canada. We are seeking an inspiring individual to lead the Canadian team strategically and spiritually and maximise the generation of funds required for the work of the organisation. Reporting to our International CEO and through him, the Canadian Board of MWB, the National Country Director will work closely with our International Director of Fundraising and Communications, as well as MWB affiliate country managers and field country managers.

Our next National Country Director for Mission Without Borders Canada will be an enthusiastic and effective leader and builder of teams simultaneously while being an effective team player. A demonstrated track record of success in fundraising will be essential in this role, in addition to experience in the charity sector, and excellent management skills. The successful candidate will also bring a strong written and verbal communication skillset, with the ability to influence and engage effectively with a range of people. In addition, this role requires a leader who is calm and adaptable, with an ability to work within a flexible and busy environment, as well as excellent organisational, prioritisation and time management skills, ideally demonstrated within an organisation with a geographically disparate workforce.

The National Country Director is expected to conduct the business of Mission Without Borders in Canada in line with the Mission’s Christian ethos and values and as such, needs a full understanding and acceptance of the Mission’s core requirements as related to the Christian faith. Together with the CEO, the Country Director is responsible for upholding and implementing the ethos, values and strategy of the Mission. The Country Director will be expected to support communication with other MWB countries and with the church leaders.  It is essential therefore that the person appointed for this role has a full understanding of the Christian ethos which provides the basis for the strategy and objectives of the Mission and its values and is willing to accept these values as part of everyday life.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact An Li Xu at Perrett Laver at AnLi.Xu@perrettlaver.com.  The deadline for applications is Friday February 14th 2020 at 12 noon PST.

The offices are based in Abbotsford, BC, Canada. We would be willing to consider candidates from other locations in Canada providing that regular trips to the administration office are undertaken.  We also anticipate a reasonable amount of internal travel within Canada as the Director seeks to develop the awareness of the Mission’s objectives and fundraising success in Canada.
