Stevens Institute of Technology – Appointment of Vice Provost, Research and Innovation
Stevens Institute of Technology is one of the oldest and most prestigious technological research universities in the United States. Our beautiful campus sits along the Hudson River in a college town that overlooks Manhattan. For 150 years, we have developed a reputation as a higher education institution marked by excellent research, innovative and rigorous teaching, strong industry engagement, and exceptional opportunities for our graduates. Our mission is to inspire, nurture and educate leaders in tomorrow’s technology-centric environment while contributing to the solution of the most challenging problems of our time. Our university is a hidden gem in a phase of unprecedented growth, and it is an exciting time to be a part of the Stevens community.
We are looking for a new Vice Provost for Research and Innovation to lead the research enterprise at Stevens through services and support that help faculty, staff and students plan, perform and commercialize ground-breaking research. Stevens’ research enterprise spans engineering, the sciences, business, social sciences and humanities, and the arts and technology. Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Vice Provost will advise the Provost on a wide range of issues related to research and innovation. The Vice Provost will develop and implement the vision and strategy to grow vigorously the Stevens research enterprise including external funding; create an ecosystem that fosters research and scholarship across the university; work closely with faculty and academic leaders to pursue funding opportunities and achieve research award targets; establish and nurture relationships with funding agencies, government laboratories, industry and foundations; and carry out additional responsibilities aligned with the strategic goals articulated by the Provost.
The successful candidate is expected to be an accomplished scholar with an internationally recognized reputation in research and demonstrated success in attracting research support and advancing knowledge transfer. They possess the capacity to build and strengthen research partnerships; elevate Stevens’ identity as an innovative, technology-driven research institution; and create a shared sense of mission across the university’s research enterprise and various constituencies. They also have a general knowledge of the wide range of disciplines, interests and constituencies at Stevens, with a demonstrated commitment to shared governance and diversity.
