Founded in 1976 by Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahayan – the first President of the UAE – UAE University (UAEU) is the nation’s flagship university located in the city of Al Ain, 75 miles from Dubai and Abu Dhabi. UAEU ranks first in the UAE, fifth in the Arab world, 284th globally and 27th in the top 50 worldwide of universities established in the last 50 years.

As the national university of the UAE, the University’s success is inexorably interwoven with the future of the nation. The new Vice-Chancellor will join UAEU at the moment of the country’s transition to a competitive knowledge economy and is a critical appointment worthy of only the most able candidates.  

UAE University has been a pioneer of higher education since its foundation as the UAE’s first comprehensive university nearly fifty years ago. It is seeking a new Vice-Chancellor who can harness the energy and investment behind the new strategic plan to help UAEU become the foremost research-intensive institution in the UAE and one of the world’s leading universities.

The next Vice-Chancellor will have the ambition and experience to help UAEU realise this ambition. They will be an internationally recognised scholar, with proven experience of growing and developing innovative programmes and a commitment to recruiting and enabling excellent faculty.  They will demonstrate a commitment to creating a scholarly environment designed to produce future leaders for the region and the world and will have the integrity and credibility to represent UAEU compellingly to local, national, and international constituencies.

Reporting to the Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor is the University’s Chief Executive Officer and has financial and administrative management responsibility for UAEU and is responsible for its continued administrative and operational success.

 

HOW TO APPLY

An executive search exercise is being undertaken by Perrett Laver who will support the Selection Committee in the discharge of its duties, both to assist in the assessment of candidates against the requirements of the role and to identify the widest possible field of qualified candidates.
