The University is looking to appoint a new Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education to join the Executive Board during a time of significant change in how universities, students and employers co-create education, reflecting contemporary and innovative contexts for learning, enhancing the relationship between Newcastle’s world-leading research and what students experience on campus, and delivery which is increasingly blended. Changes may include personalised and interdisciplinary curricula, digital pedagogy, increased relevance to employability and graduate outcomes, as well as new understandings of student wellbeing and engagement, global citizenship and the future of work. The post-holder will collaborate within and outside of the University to develop innovative approaches, embracing digitisation and encouraging experimentation in and outside of lecture halls, laboratories and teaching spaces. They will be deeply informed by inclusive educational principles, committed to decolonising curriculum, reforming pedagogy to future proof its relevance in terms of content and delivery.
The new Pro Vice-Chancellor will take the best learning possible from the effects of COVID-19 in the sector and will oversee existing educational partnerships including Newcastle’s global campuses in Malaysia and Singapore and lead the University’s submission to the next ‘TEF’ exercise. The successful candidate will be a highly able and visionary individual who will bring a record of senior leadership in a higher education context, a proven commitment to teaching and learning improvement and have a demonstrable commitment to working in partnership with students to tackle inequality and social justice issues and create the very best possible outcomes by providing a highly positive, engaged and rounded experience to each individual student.
