Founded in 627 AD, St Peter’s is the fourth oldest school in the world with a strong tradition of providing outstanding educational opportunities for its pupils. Proudly located on a 47-acre riverside campus just 10 minutes’ walk from the centre of York, St Peter’s is an over-subscribed co-educational, day and boarding school which achieves outstanding examination results alongside an extensive co-curricular programme.  The School was named the North Independent School of the Year for 2019.

With the appointment of Jeremy Walker as Head Master in January 2019, St Peter’s is in an exciting new phase in its development and now seeks to appoint a highly experienced Senior Deputy Head.  The appointee will work closely with the Head Master in guiding the strategic direction and day to day operation of St Peter’s School.  This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of a school on a clear upward trajectory with ambitious plans for the future.  For individuals aspiring to headship, this post offers an excellent opportunity to develop as a leader in one of the leading schools in the country.

As the Senior Deputy Head, the appointed candidate will bring significant experience of pastoral and/or academic senior leadership and management, as well as organisational management skills and strategic ability.  Outstanding communication skills and the personal authority to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, parents and other stakeholders are essential, as is a commitment to the vision and values St Peter’s.
