Staffordshire University is an innovative, connected university, acting as an anchor institution of and for the region. Its fundamental contributions to the economy and society are underpinned by a commitment to social mobility and challenging disadvantage. Whilst it has a heritage stretching back over 100 years, it is recognised today for its innovative digital approach and for pushing boundaries. It supports students and the wider community to compete and thrive in the modern world.

After a highly successful year in 2019, which included entering THE World University rankings for the first time, securing TEF Gold, and climbing in all the league tables, the University has already exceeded goals set previously and is now considering its ‘Towards 2030’ strategy.

Continuing this successful transformation, the University is placing next-generation digital innovation at its heart. Staffordshire University’s ambition is to be the UK’s foremost digital HE institution.  By 2030, the University will lead the sector in hyper-personalised learning that will prepare students for the jobs that don’t yet exist. Responding to, and proactively addressing the pace of change in UK higher education, Staffordshire’s forward-thinking and ground-breaking approach has the potential to lead the field in this new world.

To help realise Staffordshire University’s aspirations, the University  is seeking to appoint a new Pro Vice-Chancellor – Education, who will provide shape and direction to teaching and learning across the institution, broadening and deepening the University’s pedagogic development, harnessing its digital capabilities and creating positive impact for the student experience.

As a member of the Executive Team, s/he will help drive the institution’s academic performance, addressing key learning and teaching priorities, resulting in further sustained improvements in the student experience  and University metrics.  Candidates will have a successful track record in the leadership and management of teaching and learning and the student experience with demonstrable experience of embedding digital innovation within curriculum design and in teaching and assessment. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor and responsible for the Directors of Learning and Teaching, Quality Enhancement and Standards and Education Partnerships, this is an exceptional opportunity to help ensure the University’s success as an exemplar of a modern, academically pioneering institution for its students and the region.
