It comprises one School and five Departments, and currently has over 3,300 students and about 200 academic staff members. As the University is determined to elevate the Science Faculty to its next level of excellence, and capitalizing on the vibrant prospects presented in the Greater Bay Area for the pursuit of frontier sciences with promising investment of funding and world-class national scientific facilities, the Deanship provides a unique opportunity for aspiring academic leaders to make a global impact.
The Dean will provide academic and strategic leadership to the Faculty, with a clear vision. He/She will be responsible for furthering the Faculty's mission, including advancing the frontiers of science, promoting excellence in teaching and learning, fostering academic collaboration with local and international institutions, ensuring recruitment of academic staff of the highest quality, and enhancing the visibility of the Faculty globally. The position carries the status and title of Professor.
The Dean is expected to possess distinguished academic credentials, with internationally acclaimed research achievements. He/She should preferably have administrative experiences. The successful candidate would also possess outstanding leadership, interpersonal, communication and team-building skills, and have demonstrable success in fostering interdisciplinary research, fundraising, knowledge transfer, and partnership development.
