Now is the time to invest in technology as a way to achieve transformational impact.

The crises our planet is facing are urgent and existential. Greenpeace aims to create a green and peaceful world through fundamental systems change: changing mindsets, changing power dynamics and protecting environmental boundaries.

Through improving our use of Technology, we envision a Greenpeace that wins more campaigns and faster, through the massive strategic uplift that technology can provide. A Greenpeace where all teams are supported by technology that is perfectly aligned to their needs, enabling them to have their greatest impact. A Greenpeace where change agents’ power is amplified through our technology. A Greenpeace where our relationship with technology and data reflects our values and mission.

To achieve this vision, Greenpeace International (GPI) is seeking an experienced and innovative Chief Technology Officer (CTO). The CTO will lead in achieving short-term technology solutions while creating and delivering a longer-term vision for innovation, to keep GPI at the cutting edge of technology. As a member of the GPI Strategy & Management Team, the CTO will actively contribute to the development and delivery of GPI’s overarching strategies. They will work with Greenpeace National and Regional Organisations (NROs) to drive a coordinated technology strategy across the global network.

The new CTO will bring an understanding of overarching technology trends, analytics and innovative communication tools, that can be used in complex and international settings. The successful candidate will be ambitious, proactive and an astute and analytical leader, with the strategic ability to identify emerging technology trends and to timely advise colleagues and stakeholders on technology and data investments which will ultimately strengthen the success of different campaigns. The CTO can communicate concisely, coherently and captivatingly and has the presence to be an ambassador for GPI to a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
