The Role

The Vice Principal Learning and Teaching is a key leadership role within the University, responsible for taking strategic leadership in the area of Learning and Teaching as well as leading three of our six Schools. 

Reporting directly to the Principal and as a member of the University’s leadership team, the Vice Principal (Learning and Teaching) will support the Principal in leading the University towards its strategic objectives, articulated in its recently agreed strategy ‘Driving Distinctiveness’, Building Careers thus creating opportunities; Growing Networks and Connecting Communities; and Advancing Knowledge to deliver impact. Flowing from this, the new Learning and Teaching strategy was recently approved by Academic Board with an explicit focus on our Student Experience, our Curriculum, our Academic Signature and our Impact.

The successful candidate will drive forward new strategy and direction, building on our current achievements, helping to shape the University’s academic policies and practices, and leading the Deans of School in achieving the University’s strategic goals.

This role calls for an accomplished academic leader, who has attained a professorial role and has an excellent academic reputation along with a track record of leadership and development of an academic discipline.

You should have strong analytical skills and a proven ability to formulate and successfully deliver strategic plans and also grow income. You will have an excellent external network, with the ability to nurture, influence and lead both internal and external partners.
