The Allard School of Law is home to 55 full-time faculty members, 606 J.D. and 107 graduate students. The Allard School of Law places the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI), anti-racism, and decolonization at the very foundation of its core values. It has one of the highest enrolments of Indigenous law students in Canada and offers courses in Indigenous legal studies, conducts research with Indigenous peoples and nations, and provides legal assistance to Indigenous peoples through the Indigenous Community Legal Clinic.

Students at the Allard School of Law are academically outstanding, intellectually curious, and actively-engaged in using their new knowledge and skills to help others. Faculty members are innovative scholars who have gained national and international recognition for their contributions in areas ranging from human rights to environmental sustainability to business law, and alumni have achieved leadership in the profession as well as in the academic, business, government and non-profit sectors. They also deliver a range of experiential learning programs and clinics in the City. The Allard School of Law regularly ranks among the top 25 international law schools, and its scholars have been cited by courts and policymakers across Canada and around the world.

A member of the University’s senior management team, the Dean of Law will combine a collegial and inclusive leadership style with a strategic vision for the School. The Dean of Law will be the primary advocate for the Allard School of Law and a builder of collaborative relationships internally and externally. The successful candidate must have demonstrable experience in, a deep commitment to, EDI, anti-racism, and decolonization. Leadership experience obtained in the legal profession will be considered, but a strong understanding of, experience with, and affinity for the post-secondary education sector is preferred. The Dean of Law will foster excellence in teaching, research and service combined with the initiative and drive to enhance the Allard School of Law’s national and international reputation.
