Bishop Challoner School is a co-educational Catholic independent day school in Bromley educating 294 pupils aged 3 to 18.  Life at Bishop Challoner is a seamless journey from Nursery through to Sixth Form.  The School welcomes all faiths and provides holistic education in an inclusive and nurturing community where first-class pastoral care underpins a supportive and rigorous academic offer.

The current Headteacher, Paula Anderson, will be leaving the School after seven years of exceptional service.  The Trustees seek an outstanding leader to guide Bishop Challoner School as it enters the next exciting phase of its evolution.  The School has experienced a great deal of positive change under Paula Anderson’s tenure as Headteacher and her successor will inherit a school with a strong platform operationally and educationally, with notable strengths in the quality of pastoral care.  The next Headteacher will grow the pupil roll with particular focus on the key entry points at Reception, Year 7 and Year 12 and develop further the School’s Sixth Form offer.  S/he will support the development of an already talented and committed staff and continue to champion the School’s distinctive nurturing Catholic ethos.

The appointee will be a visionary and strategic leader with the warmth, gravitas and people skills to position the School as a leading 21st century independent Catholic school. A compelling communicator and outstanding pedagogical leader, s/he will possess strong stakeholder management skills, commercial acumen and the strength of character to inspire pupils, staff and the wider community at Bishop Challoner. An understanding of the imperatives of external engagement in a competitive market is important, as is a strong commitment to Bishop Challoner’s Catholic ethos and a genuine resonance with the School’s aims and values.

Bishop Challoner School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful candidate must be willing to undergo an enhanced disclosure through the Disclosure and Barring Service.
