Appointment of Professor of Public Health

The University of Warwick is one of the UK's great success stories. Within 50 years we have become one of the country's best universities, consistently in the top 10 of UK league tables and rapidly climbing the international rankings of world class universities.

Warwick Medical School (WMS) is a young medical school with big ambitions and a track record of success. We strive to be innovative, bold, interdisciplinary, and inspiring. We are inclusive, enabling talent to shine through from everyone. We are leaders in regional transformation aiming for the best health and wellbeing outcomes.

WMS now wishes to appoint a Professor of Public Health who will continue to expand excellent public health research within the School. The new Professor of Public Health will join the Division of Health Sciences in WMS, which offers a vibrant research-active multidisciplinary grouping of more than 50 PIs in methodological and substantive research including: epidemiology, health services research, global health, health economics, evidence synthesis, qualitative research methods, organisational studies, public mental health and primary care. The appointee will be expected to develop strategic links with other relevant research groups in WMS and across the University more broadly, such as Mathematics, Economics, Life Sciences, Warwick Manufacturing Group's Institute of Digital Healthcare and Warwick Business School.

The successful candidate will be a clinically (or Public Health equivalent) qualified senior academic with an outstanding research and publication record, and will have a background in research and teaching in Public Health or a clinical area with a major public health focus. They will also have demonstrable experience of leading research teams and of undertaking research which has impact across public health networks nationally and internationally.

An honorary clinical contract will be sought with Public Health England, or the NHS if more appropriate to the candidate appointed. Research collaboration with the honorary contracting organisation will be strongly supported. There is substantial scope for leadership roles within WMS, including leading Units wider than your own research group and support is available for leadership development.

For an informal discussion, please contact Dr Dong Liu at Perrett Laver via email at or by phone at +44 (0)207 340 6266.

The closing date for applications is Friday 26th February 2021.
